Come and join us on the dance floor.

Thing To Know

When you start line dancing please take it easy as the movements may be difficult for your body if you are not familiar with them. Do not expect to be able to do the dances on the first lesson as they can be difficult to absorb and retain the various steps but always remember to join in as you can not learn to dance by sitting and watching others.

For our type of line dancing you do not need jeans, cowboy boots or Stetsons. The only criteria for what you should wear is that it is comfortable and cool as you can get quite warm while dancing and you may want to shed the outer layers. Your shoes should permit your feet to slide a little on the dance floor.  Ballroom dancing practice shoes with a chamois sole are ideal and inexpensive. Trainers and running shoes tend to grip the floor and limit your ability to do turns without putting undue pressure on your knees and ankles. Your shoes should be of the non-marking type as otherwise they can damage the floor.

Remember to drink some water when you begin to feel warm.

The dances that we teach are usually based on the ballroom dances such as Foxtrot, Quickstep, Tango, Waltz, Cha Cha, Mambo, Rumba. Also included are some Country and Western together with the Salsa, Bachata and Merengue and the music used for our dances has been selected to offer variety and be enjoyable.

Remember that with any type of new activity that it usually takes about 5 or 6 weeks before you begin to see results.  Do not give up but get those brain cells working that sets you dancing.

Line dancing is a great health and wellness activity for everyone of any age.
